Hero ISL Preview: FC Goa vs Atletico de Kolkata

FC Goa are preparing for a fiery contest against Atletico de Kolkata in a second round Indian Super League (ISL) clash at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Wednesday.
Both teams are going into this clash with a win under their belt and FC Goa coach Zico said it was important to carry forward this momentum.
“We had a good win against Delhi Dynamos in the opening game and we must continue winning,” said Zico.
FC Goa lost to Atletico de Kolkata last year in the semifinals and the Goan franchise is now looking at getting their revenge.
“Of course, we are motivated to win. This team has the ambition and desire to win this edition of ISL. This team has players who have played many finals. Last year there was a setback (against Atletico de Kolkata). This year, our target remains the same,” Zico said during the official pre-match press conference.
“Versus Kolkata we just lost one game out of four last time. We drew one game because of the mistake of the referee when we were leading 1-0,” said Zico, head coach of FC Goa.
Asked whether the absence of top Kolkata players like Helder Postiga, Rino Anto and Arnab Mondal, all understood to be injured, would mean FC Goa will have the edge, Zico pointed to his own injured players like Victor Simoes and Bikramjit Singh, while Narayan Das and Pronay Halder are away with the Indian team.
Atletico de Kolkata stunned Chennaiyin FC in the ISL opener at Chennai and coach Antonio Lopez Habas should have been a relieved man. Instead, the Spanish coach has discovered that his marquee player, Helder Postiga, will be out for four weeks.
“I might miss Postiga for a month but I have a lot of confidence in all my players. The player who replaced him, Valdo, got us a goal. The important thing is I was happy that we were able to start with win,” said Habas.
The Spanish coach said he was happy with the progress his team is making as evident from the opening win in Chennai.
“Compared to last year, there is a big difference in the team this year. This year the players have adapted to my system better. Last year it was new to them. Now they know what I want of them,” said Habas.
“The difference between Goa and Atletico de Kolkata is minimum. The difference is in small data like set pieces, fouls,” he said.

Keeping into consideration both teams played just one match each, there is a glaring sight on FC Goa’s clean sheet as compared to the two goals conceded by Atletico de Kolkata and neither outfits are shy to play an attacking brand of football.
