Hero ISL: Dhanush brand ambassador in TN




With the country’s biggest football extravaganza, Hero Indian Super League, all set to kick off in Chennai, football fever in the region received a big boost with Tamil superstar Dhanush becoming the face of the league in Tamil Nadu. With a bigger and better season 2 on offer, the opening game will feature the defending Champions Atletico de Kolkata taking on the home team Chennaiyin FC on October 3. Apart from the English broadcast available on Star Sports 2 & Star Sports HD2, football fans in Tamil Nadu will also be able to enjoy all the action and excitement of the sport in their preferred language, Tamil, on Jaya Max.

The talented and versatile actor, who has won multiple awards for his work, will promote the sport and the league for the millions of football enthusiasts in the state of Tamil Nadu. As a passionate football fan, Dhanush will be wearing his team colours of Chennaiyin FC during the domestic football league.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhanush said,“The inaugural season of the Hero Indian Super League revolutionised Indian football and brought quality football action for millions of fans across the country. This year, the league promises to be more competitive and captivating. The second season of the Hero Indian Super League will be defined by the superior quality of play and world class footballing action. The quality of game will be enhanced and more competitive in season 2, with a younger yet more experienced team squads. The very best of Indian footballers will also play in league this season with India Captain Sunil Chhetri, best midfielder of the year Eugensen Lyngdoh, and i-League best player Jackichand Singh joining Hero Indian Super League teams. A new breed of foreign players like Adil Nabi- the only player to be contracted with a English Premier League club to play in the league and Nicolas Velez, a 25 year old from S-League in Singapore among others will be part of the team squads. The league will also witness the best of international coaches and acumen on side lines with former Manchester City Assistant Manager David Platt and former England Manager Peter Taylor joining the expert and renowned coaches from season 1.

The league will have a multi lingual feed to help football take root across the country. Hero Indian Super League will be broadcast in five languages- Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali along with English and Hindi, across eight channels and on Star’s digital platform- hotstar.
